Thirukkural quoted by P Chidambaram in the budget speech -

Some of the best poetry to come from India is quoted in the Parliament. And most of that happens during the general budget. Today P Chidambaram quoted from Thiruvalluvar (Thirukkural no 668), reminded me of my school days and how we used to struggle to learn Thirukkurals.

கலங்காது கண்ட வினைக்கண் துளங்காது
தூக்கங் கடிந்து செயல்.

If you want to pronounce this in Hindi, this should be close enough

कलंगादु कण्डअ विनइक्कण तुळंगादु
तूक्कम कडिन्दु सेयल
{Note on pronunciation : unless specifically marked with an 'अ' at the end, assume a हलंत or a hard stop at the end of the word. And the strange looking diacritic mark is the short u (as in book)}

What it basically means is that if you have made up your mind to do something (while in full command of your senses), you must go ahead and do it without any further ado.

पूरे होशो हवास में जब एक बार आपने कुछ करने का फ़ैसला कर लिया हो,
तो बिना किसी देर सवेर के उसे तुरंत कर गुज़रना चाहिये

या अगर महान संत सलमान ख़ान की ज़बान में कहा जाये

आप एक बार कोई कमिट्मेंट कर दो तो फिर अपने आप की भी मत सुनो.
