हुआ न पर न हुआ मीर का अन्दाज़ नसीब

ज़ौक़ यारों नें बोहत ज़ोर ग़ज़ल में मारा

huua na par na huua miir ka aNdaaz nasiib 
zauq yaaroN neN bohat zor ghazal meN maaraa 


I just could not recreate  poet Meer's finesse 
However hard I tried to write a ghazal like he does

ज़ौक़ 

Zauq 

हो उम्र-ए-ख़िज़्र भी तो कहेंगे बवक़्त ए मर्ग

हो उम्र-ए-ख़िज़्र भी तो कहेंगे बवक़्त ए मर्ग

हम क्या रहे यहां अभी आये अभी चले

ho umr-e-khizr bhii to kahen ge ba_vaqt-e-marg 

ham kyaa rahe yahaaN abhi aaye abhii chale 

Even if one was to be immortal, then one would say at the time of death

Oh I have barely just come here, I hardly got any time to stay

बेहतर तो है यही कि ना दुनिया से दिल लगे

पर क्या करें जो काम ना बे दिललगी चले

behtar to hai yahii ki na duniya se dil lage 
par kya kare.n jo kaam na be-dillagii chale 
It is better if one does not get too attached to the world
But what to do, it is difficult to make do without getting attached 

ज़ौक़ 

देख छोटों को है अल्लाह बडाई देता

dekh chhoTo.n ko hai allah baRaaii detaa
aasmaa.n aa.nkh ke til me.n hai dikhaaii detaa

Zauq

देख छोटों को है अल्लाह बडाई देता
आसमां आंख के तिल में है दिखाई देता

ज़ौक़
